The Mental Load of Caregiving — and How We're Trying to Help
ROUNDS Editorial·March 11, 2026· 6 min read

We make clothing, not therapy — but we hear from our community often enough that the physical toll of the job is only half the story. The mental load of caregiving, shift after shift, is real, and it's rarely part of the conversation around what healthcare workers need.
It's part of why a portion of every Fibers for Future order goes toward mental health and wellness resources for healthcare workers — not as a marketing line, but because our community asked for it directly.
Small things that help, according to our community
- A decompression ritual before walking in the door at home — even five minutes in the car.
- A work group chat that isn't only about logistics.
- Actually using PTO instead of banking it 'for emergencies.'
If you're a healthcare worker reading this on a rough week: it's not just you, and it's not weakness to say so out loud.
